Project 365 - Week Eight

I had heard that Whitstable is a lovely place to visit, with plenty of photographic opportunities, so Chris and I whizzed over there on Sunday afternoon. However, what we hadn't realised was that there was a weekend beer festival on, so the place was absolutely heaving! It was therefore very difficult to shoot anything at all.

I did manage to get a couple of good shots in the end, but I'll have to go back on a quieter day to properly explore.

We had planned to stick around and grab a bite to eat but, given the sheer volume of people, we decided to pop into Canterbury on the way home instead. Canterbury is such a beautiful city and lovely to just walk around. I took this photo of the river cruise beside the Little Italy restaurant:

Project 365 - Week Seven

I took part in the Race For Life on Sunday at Hyde Park with three fabulous friends. It absolutely chucked it down for most of the day, so we were quite soggy by the end! We had a brilliant time though despite the rain, and the atmosphere was amazing. We have managed to raise £605.00 between us and for such a fantastic cause!

I didn't actually take any of these photos (as I'm in most of them), but I thought I'd share these with you for my project 365 this week:

Project 365 - Week Six

I've been a bit slack recently with my project 365 (been super busy!). As you may recall, I am doing the project weekly rather than daily.

This week I am mostly: monochrome. I am a huge fan of black and white photography.  I particularly love black and white portraits. Colour in portraits can sometimes be distracting and take focus away from the subject. Don't get me wrong, I love colour portraits too, but to me, black and white portraits often look more honest and beautiful.

Jon & Natalie's Wedding

Last month Chris and I went to close friends of ours, Jon and Natalie's wedding. Both the ceremony and the reception were held at the Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa in East Grinstead. It is an absolutely gorgeous venue with stunning grounds and views. Unfortunately, it rained all day, meaning that I didn't get a chance to take any photos of the surroundings.

Despite the miserable weather, everyone had a great time and it was such a lovely day. Jon & Natalie (especially Natalie!) are huge Harry Potter fans, so all the tables were named after the book titles - brilliant idea! The guests also had a Harry Potter quiz to complete during dinner with a prize for the winning table. Needless to say, the competition was fierce!

Here are some photos that I took as a guest:
